Why it never changes
The mouthline of Neophocaena curves sharply upward where the maxilla meets the mandible, and no muscle attaches that could pull it back down. He looks the same feeding, socializing, and under stress.
Without a beak the face sits on a single plane, closer to a human infant’s proportions than a dolphin’s. Low-set eyes, round forehead, smooth skin. People read an expression into it because the geometry invites them to.
